MetaMask – Ethereum Browser Extension

MetaMask enables users to view Ethereum in their browser, without having to leave their website. The extension allows the user perform Ethereum transactions within their browser.

What is the secret to it?

MetaMask’s extension adds Ethereum’s web3 API into any Javascript context. It means that when you view a webpage, the extension is able to see the blockchain information. The information includes the Ethereum addresses and associated balances, the Ethereum address of each wallet, the balance of the contract address, and the number of transactions performed.

As soon as a user signs up, a wallet is created in the user’s MetaMask client and the user can move tokens between addresses, make transfers and withdrawals, and move funds between wallets.
